WARDOGS Revive & Looting: Why Teammates Can Strip Your Body for Free

Updated 2026-09-25

On this page

One of WARDOGS' most controversial mechanics: when you go down, other players — including teammates — can take your gear at no cost. A 45-reply Steam thread exists purely because players keep losing expensive kits to "friendly" looting. Here is what is confirmed, and the one trick that protects you.

The quick answer

If you are downed or dead, your equipment can be looted without any cost or permission check (community-reported). The community-discovered defense: open your backpack while you are downed — players report this blocks others from stripping your gear.

How the looting works (community-reported)

  • Gear on a downed/dead player's body is free to take — no money changes hands, no consent prompt.
  • This applies to teammates too, which is the core complaint: your squad can legally rob you while you bleed out.
  • The counter-trick: opening your own backpack/inventory while downed prevents others from looting you (community-reported — treat as a workaround, possibly an exploit-adjacent bug that could be patched).

Practical rules until this changes

  1. Downed? Open your backpack immediately. Make it muscle memory.
  2. Don't bring your best kit with strangers. In a game where gear is bought with grind money (see the money farming guide), a T4 loadout looted is hours deleted.
  3. Play with a squad you trust — see how squads work.

Whether BULKHEAD considers free teammate-looting intended design or a bug is not yet confirmed; the thread argues both ways.
